Well - this is an extremely touchy subject for most people! Yet, everyone needs to have faith in something - whether it's God, Jesus, Mary, Angels, Buddha, Mother Earth, Goddess, Universal Spirit / Energy.
I personally grew up in a town with a population of 100 people, with a dozen (Christian)churches - which I attended throughout my childhood (not two mention that my 2-room elementary school had a 'bible bus').
My father was Cherokee Indian & always taught me that a person didn't need to go to church in order to believe in God & that praying in a closet would be sufficient.
Yet, I was forced to attend many different churches (when I lived with my father), in order to make him 'look' good. I had the privilege of seeing first-hand how many people would misconstrue what they would learn from the bible based on how the specific denomination was run (i.e. 'Lutheran', 'United', 'Methodist' - to name a few) & a majority of the church-goers would spend most of the time before / after sermons gossiping about people's lives & how other churches were wrong! Yet, sooo many people would perpetually sin & NOT learn from there mistakes - but instead would repeat them over & over, but be so-called "Saved"!!!!
I personally don't like 'structured' religion, yet choose to be 'Spiritual'. I do believe in a higher power - Universal Spirit / Energy and believe that everyone has a specific purpose in the circle of life! (I recently became a "Reiki Master", because I believe soo strongly in 'Energy' - yet Reiki is NOT a religion & is available to ALL people regardless of religion / faith!) I also believe that each specific religion has good morals / beliefs that should be implemented, yet we all should learn to 'Co-Exist' together and learn t)o be more open-minded! (I've read the Bible, books on Christianity, Buddhism, Toltec, Wicca, Angels, Numerology, Astrology, and believe that they all have good roots & morals......... Who are 'WE' to JUDGE?)
We all need to learn to Respect & Co-Exist with others and be more Open-Minded for the sake of all humanity!!!
